a recent letter reply of a different kind…
(among the correspondence that comes this way… most of it’s very positive… and am so grateful for it all!… although the following reply is in regards to something a bit different… and it’s not about feedback of otherwise either… as can easily understand how that goes… but this comes from being all too familiar with the basic ways and means of one of the mindsets behind a certain website scene… and so just wanna share another side of my replies here too… as it also reflects the nature of my poems… and in more ways than one in this case… which happens to include the poem “head strong… dead wronged…” )
“Hiya JR!
Thank you for your reply. And no, I didn’t mind you using your employer’s professional letterhead envelope and paper. Although I hope it wasn’t used to try to impress me in some way, (since professional use of business letterhead beyond its own company does make a recipient wonder), as that didn’t happen.
Are you inferring that CS2 only accepts an oblique type of particular poetry? Or are you obliquely referring to your own personal opinion? Whatever the case may be, it’s sad to hear, for while an oblique type of particular poetry doesn’t consider other versions of valid verse, it also includes in general the overwhelming tons of mainstream mediocrity these days too.
Well, with the prevailing trends in mind, like a herd stampeding towards a certain pasture, let’s hope for a brighter overall outlook through more awareness for mainstream’s already overrun playground, and not give up the quest for further expansions of insight and openmindedness via other horizons of poetry!
For me to change my poems to fit your own preferences of poetry, would be to deplete them of the very truthful essence they were written with for their delivery to share. And that basis is far too important to be traded away in order to fit the gist of someone else’s opinion. And especially in this day and age, where illusion feeds so many opinions while truth so often sits alone.
Anyway, I felt that the record did indeed need to be set straight, and hence this letter of reply, and hopefully some added enlightenment also.
The best of wishes and ways and todays to you and yours!
Sincerely,
SK (sallysense) …
