and a newer clearer view…
this yearly trip around the sun…
adds travel for one’s mind…
seasons pass until at last…
the past leaves more to find…
a hidden side of childhood…
with blindfolds so well sewn…
by those assigned to rule a roost…
through cruel and darker tones…
harshness pricks that eye inside…
as if to scratch and let it swell…
then cover up its ugly truth…
of being reared in another’s hell…
years and tears of torment…
under tons of misplaced blame…
raised to serve such faulty thoughts…
all dressed for work in shades of shame…
their ploys survive no end in sight…
as hope dared it might change…
tho’ someone else’s choices…
sit no longer in my range…
to realize how young parts died…
before they found that chance…
and now to bring ’em back to life…
from a coming time and happenstance…
to see the light of one’s own plight…
to feel the pain when breaking chains…
and uproot all that grooming done…
then aim to lose and on to gain…
this yearly trip around the sun…
with so much now to do…
helping others and myself…
through a newer clearer view!…
